All About Bar(Re) And Fixing Our Obsession With Fast Food
Hi, my name is Jackie, and I love Wendy’s fries dipped in a Jr Frosty. The salty/sweet mixture is worth writing home to mom about. And I haven’t had this glorious mixture in over two years.
Eating more healthfully isn’t about denying yourself the foods you love. It is, however, all about finding options that are a little less-likely to cause major health risks.
I still eat fries. There are some in the frozen section at Wal-Mart that are just potatoes, oil, and salt that we make quite a bit. I still eat chocolate ice cream. And, glory of glories, I still eat them together in a symphony of deliciousness that rivals the most beautiful song.
I just don’t get them from Wendy’s. Once I looked at their ingredient list, there was no going back.
It was rough at first. Fast food is engineered to be addictive. It’s how the industry has boomed during its short life so far.
So how to you fix your obsession with fast food?? There’s an extremely informative blog post by Beachbody that explains the addiction and gives some pointers on how to combat it.
Here are a few questions you should ask yourself if you’re obsessed with fast food:
- Evaluate WHEN you’re most likely to indulge in fast food. Is it on the way to work? On the way home? After picking the kids up from school?
- Is it the taste of the fast food that gets you or the convenience?
- Are you passing this obsession on to your children?
Write them down on a piece of paper then evaluate your answers. Could having something quick-to-grab each morning save you a trip? Is there an equally delicious but far more nutritious option you could give your kids? (There are even little Happy Meal-type toys you could have on-hand if that’s an issue)
If you like, you can even send the list to me and we’ll go over it together. I’m here to help!
