3 Day Refresh Review

3 Day Refresh Review

Yes, my skeptical ass did the 3 Day Refresh. And you know what? I kind of loved it.

Let’s back up a little… I’ve been a health coach for just over two years now. In those two years, I’d seen other coaches advertise the 3 Day Refresh. Some called it a detox, others a cleanse, but it always rubbed me the wrong way. I stubbornly refused to advertise for it because of this.

But more and more clients asked about it. What exactly was it? What did it do? What was it like completing it?

I couldn’t answer these questions because I’d never actually done the 3 Day Refresh. So I dug into the materials and found a wonderful article describing the difference between a detox and a cleanse that directly related to the refresh. The intro immediately endeared me to the subject matter:

Cleansing and detoxing get a ton of hype — do a Google search for “detox” or “cleanse” and you’ll get millions of results.

Turns out you can pretty much cleanse or detox almost every aspect of your life, not just your body!

You could use them end toxic relationships, block toxic trolls on social media, or do a “digital detox” to break your screen habit. A noble idea, that last one, but you’ll have to pry my smartphone out of my cold, dead, Pinterest-addicted hands.

Certainly if someone as sarcastic and witty as that could find it in her heart to appreciate the refresh, so could I. So the week after the new year, I bit the bullet and did the 3 Day Refresh myself…

Day 1:

Day 1 was by far the most difficult. Mentally, I just didn’t want to do it. The voices in my head – and yes, there are many – kept telling me to grab the queso and a bag of chips and go to town.

But we are made to do hard things, right?? Kind of… lol. In this case, I simply reminded myself it’s only for 3 days. My body would thank me for it later. I’d learn to stretch my boundaries and get out of my comfort zone. I’d be able to better help others who wanted to try it out. I could prove that food didn’t control me, I controlled it.

Then the kids had fudge, and I wept just a tiny bit…

Day 2:

Day 2 was far easier. I wasn’t as hungry throughout the day meaning I hadn’t been as hungry as I’d thought the day before. I’d broken through the mental barrier of thinking I needed to constantly be eating and could focus more on what I was eating and why.

Day 3:

This was the only day during the refresh I actually worked out! It was the home stretch which helped with the mental barriers, and the physical ramifications of eating very few carbs had become bearable – especially since I knew my time without them was drawing to a close.

I was still hungry which was to be expected. My BMR is higher than the amount of calories I’d been consuming. There was still a slight lingering headache because of, again, the lower amount of carbs I’d been eating. But overall, I felt pretty good!

My husband commented on my complexion and how it had changed (for the better) during the refresh which made my dark little heart pitter-patter just a bit.

Results and Thoughts

Over the course of the 3 days, I lost 6 pounds and 3 inches. That is a HUGE accomplishment I’m very proud of.

I did still drink coffee during the refresh. I also ate about a half cup more vegetables during dinner than was recommended. I listened to my body and made the appropriate adjustments.

Doing the 3 Day Refresh reminded me of something very important; I have an unhealthy relationship with food. I’ve been known to either dive knee-dip into junk food or just stop eating when I’m extremely stressed out. Using portion control and learning what our bodies need has helped with this TREMENDOUSLY. That doesn’t mean that my relationship with food is completely fixed; it just means I’m more aware of it and can take positive steps to correct it.

Because of this, and because of my anxiety issues, this refresh was a little more difficult on me than it may be on someone else. And by that, I mean the fact that I thought about food quite a bit for those 3 days, and it made me a bit hangry at times. I think it’s important to note that in case you find yourself in a similar situation.

Overall, I’m quite happy with both my results and my newfound knowledge of this refresh!

If you’ve been looking for something to jumpstart your weightloss, help you be more in tune with your body, or help you control your sugar cravings after the holidays, the 3 Day Refresh would be an excellent place for you to start.

Have you ever done a refresh? What were your thoughts? Would you like to try one?
